Place tray with holes inside of solid bottom tray. Fill with one packet of soil. Use a shaker or spread seed with hands to get an even layer of seeds across the surface of the soil. Each soil pack and seed pack are pre-measured and contain the appropriate amount for a single grow tray.
Fill fresh water in spray bottle and mist until seeds and soil are wet but water is not pooling on surface.
Place solid tray on top of seeds and soil.
Add weight on top. For smaller trays, a mason jar full of water is good. For the larger trays you can use a heavy textbook, a brick or 2 jars. The weight should be around 2-3 pounds.
Check daily and mist with spray bottle as needed. When microgreens are pushing top tray up and have all sprouted, you will move to the next step, usually 2-3 days.
When all the seeds have germinated, you can take the weight off and flip the top over to make a blackout dome.
